Our family background is in farming and agriculture but in the 1970s we diversified and began operating a waste disposal company from our Lumm Farm site in Droylsden, Manchester.
We began recycling wood in the 1980s, supplying recycled wood to the panel board industry.
In the 1990s we decided to expand our line of products, and in 1999 we launched the first of our animal bedding products: easibed for horses.
Today at Hadfield Wood Recyclers we produce 13 different products from recycled wood including horse, poultry and cattle bedding, arena surfaces, panelboard, filter chip, compost, and biomass fuel.
UK Wood Recycling
In 2006 we launched a sister company UK Wood Recycling (UKWR), based in Middlesbrough. UKWR has a contract to supply recovered wood chip to the Wilton 10 Biomass Power Station, which is operated by SembCorp Utilities UK.
The company is based on a purpose-built facility based next to Wilton 10 and, like Hadfield, accepts most types of non-hazardous wood. As well as producing wood chip for fuel, the recovered wood from UKWR also goes into making our range of animal bedding, equestrian surface and compost.
At Hadfields we pride ourselves on providing a first-class service to our customers and as such, we ensure:
All our activities comply with health and safety policies and procedures
We have a waste management license
We are a registered waste carrier
We are registered with the Environment Agency
We are Government accredited to issue Packaging Recovery Notes (PRNs)
